Clouds, rain, girl:
i find it funny that i did the clouds first and then i actually did the girl in the field last in this project. I mainly wanted them to flow together and be as one so that the strings of the first one could stay long and fit in with the second piece. I decided with carrying the clouds and stitching over from my summer work to the 10 works and over the course of the 10 works, my style evolved a bit. The girl i believe is me and the road is a vague memory from a small town where i lived for the majority of my childhood.
One ties all:
In this work I had more of an actual thought when i made it. In Greek mythology, the fates would kill you (by fate) by cutting a string which represents your life. I decided to put in a bunch of strings (lives) in this however they are all tied, or connected, by one. I wanted it to be abstract and religious by representing that Jesus binds us all together. However, if you have issues with that, you would never truly know what this piece was about unless you read the statement.
Stuff grows:
This piece was more of an experiment with ink. For a process, I drew a line under the thread with ink and then before it dried i blew on it and let it take its course. It was quite unpredictable but i think that is what i have liked about working with ink however sometimes it is too unpredictable. i gave it the title stuff grows because of the way the ink looks like it is shooting out from the ground.
Interpretation of a grave:
I put thought into this piece. I wanted to continue with ink and this format (see above). my best friend passed away due to Leukemia and the day i made this i was very much thinking of her.  So I made a box with thread under the thread ground and used a similar technique that i used in my 3rd work (see above). This work taught me patience with ink and how important it is for an artist to work with the materials instead of against. At first, i was disappointed about the ink going outside of the grave (for that was not my original intention) however now it has helped me to take on a new meaning: that though my friend is underground, her life still seeps out.
